Irony at its best…

Posted in General at 4:10 pm by Jules

Something about my make-up/blush looked funny to me this morning once I was in the car. I looked at Logan and asked, “Do I look sunburned or something?” She looked and said, “I don’t know, why.” I said, “I don’t know. Do I have on too much blush or something?” and she looked again and said, “Maybe…. what’s the blush called?”  I stopped for a second and said, “Sunbasque.”

The child erupted into a stifled fit of giggles.

I said something inappropriate to her, and she giggled harder.

Damn kids and irony.

Par for the course

I’m so underutilized at my company. Sometimes, I honestly think they have no idea how much they’re missing out on by not using more of my creativity and/or brain power. I’ve even gone so far once or twice as to point that out. So, screw ‘em.

Hurry up, Celexa!

That is all.

The other night, Jake says to me, “I miss your curls.”

WTF???

“Then WHY did you tell me to shave my head??”

“I didn’t KNOW I was gonna miss the curls!!!”

OY!

Underappreciation

For years, I have known that Billy Joel is a wonderful musician. One of the top dogs in the music world for the past 30 years or more, actually. I’ve known this. I have listened to “Piano Man” I don’t know how many times in my life, but I don’t think I ever actually heard it until today.

Genius. Here’s to you, Bill! :)

iPod Woes

Posted in General at 9:18 pm by Jules

My wonderful husband just bought me an iPod Nano as a late Christmas present. I brought it to work yesterday all ready to finally get to try it out and guess what… I can’t use it at work! *@#$(@*#&)@$(*#@*(&#4   I’m still running Windows 2000 on my machine, and the latest version of iTunes released for 2000 is 7.3 something. Well, in order to use MY iPod with iTunes, I have to be running iTunes 7.4 or greater. BAH!! Oh well. At least I finally bought that little flash drive, and it will come into good use! ;)

That one thing per day thing?

Posted in General at 7:10 pm by Jules

Yeah - I kinda dropped the ball on that one. :)  I’m doing better today, however. I’m doing WORK I don’t want to do. And a couple of things I’ve been putting off. Warm fuzzies. Awww.

In other news, I have been dealing with childish web drama over the past couple of days - something which I didn’t think I’d ever have to deal with again, really. Funny, I should’ve thought about that before joining a cliquey MySpace make-up group! LOL. At any rate, one less group right now = less work for me!

Okay - gonna go back to work, doing all those ONE things I don’t want to do.

Sincerely,
The Attention Whore Whiny Bitch with a Head-Shaving Mid-Life Crisis

Priceless. :)

I’m crass and disgusting! But my arm feels better!!

Posted in General at 9:37 pm by Jules

Have I mentioned that? About my arm feeling better, I mean? Well, it does! I got another injection in it last week, and man… like hardly ANY pain now. Usually a “0″ unless I do something with my arm I’m not supposed to do. (I.e. pick up something too heavy, move it too quickly, etc.) So… YAY!!!!  Two pains down… one to go! ;)

Work…

Posted in General at 10:15 pm by Jules

I’m having the hardest time getting myself to actually *DO* any work today!! UGH!!! I am such a horrible procrastinator.

I’d rather be putting make-up on someone, somewhere. *sigh*

That cake better be gooooood…

Posted in General at 5:31 pm by Jules

So, my daughter and I *love* to watch Ace of Cakes on Food Network. Duff is a riot, and his whole staff is supremely talented. These people turn out THE most gorgeous cakes I have ever seen! Last night, Logan, Jake, and I watched an episode where Charm City Cakes was asked to do a Hogwarts cake for the Harry Potter movie premiere in LA. Holy cow! What a cake!! So, while we’re watching, Logan says something about how cool it would be to have a Naruto cake from them. Just out of curiousity, I decided to look into it. According to their website, the MINIMUM cake cost is $500!! Sheesh!! I mean, I knew it was going to be expensive, but I figured the *starting* price might be a tad bit lower!!

So, no Naruto cake for her unless I do it myself, I suppose - which is possible because I have a cake decorating kit and have been wanting to learn how to do it. ;)
Mondays still suck…

Holy Lyrica Winehouse, Batman!

Posted in General at 2:51 pm by Jules

My GP put me on Lyrica a little over a week ago. I started on 75mg twice per day, and they moved it up to 150mg twice per day. That’s been working well for my overall pain. (It hasn’t done much for my back, unfortunately.) It has made me hyper and a tad loopy here and there, but yesterday — boy howdy!!! I was loopy/high as hell all morning - then I got sleepy. As soon as I had a chance yesterday afternoon (after lunch in town and a trip to Wal-Mart), I took a nap. I had to wake up around 4:00 to take Logan to a party. Then I came back home and fell asleep while on the computer. Woke up when Logan called for me to come pick her up. I fought sleep the entire drive there and back - it was awful - and when I got home, I went in to wake Jake up from his nap and lay down. Apparently, I fell asleep and stayed there — all night. So, I woke up this morning around 5:20, unable to see, eyes burning like the madness. I had to hurriedly get to the bathroom and snatch out my contacts then remove my eye make-up. My eyes felt better, but OH the pouding in my head! ARGH! It’s better now, over an hour later, but man… that sucked. Weird, still, that Lyrica seemed to pick that one day to really fuck with me.

Amy Winehouse — I’d never heard of her until a few months ago. My co-worker made a CD for me, and I’ve been listening to it for about a week, I guess. She’s awesome. A wonderful singer and songwriter. After waking this morning with the “Rehab” song stuck in my head, I decided to look her up and read some info on her. So, I went to Wikipedia. Wow. This poor fucked-up woman has had a run of it!! However, something strikes me. Here is a quote from the Wikipedia article about her:

In the days before her entry into rehabilitation, The Times, in a break of its normal custom of not devoting space to the “saga of pop singers,” editorialized that the government should force the singer into rehabilitation. The editorial, in part, read:

“The State’s actions could save a great talent. She desperately needs to be brought into rehabilitation and, this time, to stay put there for weeks if not months. The means to that end have to be found. Pope’s epistle has much to say that is apt for human failings.a Apart from raising the fate of the butterfly, he ponders ‘if there be force in virtue or in song.’ There is force in virtue and, on occasion, virtue in force. In this instance, it is the one way of saving Winehouse and her song.”[95]

Now, granted — she probably does need to go to rehab in order to save her life. However, the whole “save a great talent” thing - maybe, maybe not. Artists throughout the ages have had problems with substance abuse. Being an artist type, I totally understand this. There’s so much going on inside their heads, hearts - they have to find a way to get it out or try to kill it because without either of those happening, it will drive you mad. However, a lot of artists would no longer be the great artists they are without substance abuse of some sort. So, yeah, you might “save a great talent” in one way, but you damn well may LOSE the actual greatness in another.

Just my little take.

This is a lot to type before 7:00 a.m.! ;)
